SSMS Scripter and SQL Server 2005 SP2 CTP

In mid-December 2006 Microsoft released SQL Server 2005 SP2 CTP (here:  While there are some nice things fixed, one thing that the CTP changes is how Management Studio plug-ins are “registered”.

All three released versions of my SSMS Scripter (available at throw an error when it tries to add an item to the content menus for Databases, Stored Procedures, etc., it throws an error to the effect of “can’t cast object of type ToolStripItem to MenuItem’.

I haven’t had a chance yet to dig into this yet, but once I do I’ll either issue an updated version, or links to articles describing this as a new bug that will be fixed when the full release of SP2 is out.  For the time being, I wanted to give everyone a heads up – the Scripter and SP2 don’t play well together.
